We’ve just uploaded a short video to our YouTube Channel of Gratnells at the recent Education Show. Starring Yours Truly it just gives a flavour of our stand with the magician and our sponsored talk from Kevin Bullock.
It is always nice to catch up with major customers at the Education Show. The Consortium, based in the West Country, has been giving presentations on their future business plans at the show and it is always interesting to see what they will be doing. In the past year The Consortium has bought West Mercia Supplies and at the same time been bought themselves by Smiths News. With this strong backing the school supplier is in an excellent position to grow in the marketplace. Gratnells was also shortlisted as one of their Suppliers of the Year but we were beaten to the line by British Thornton. Congrats to them, but my eye is on the trophy for 2014!
We’ve booked a Magician to perform some magic tricks for visitors at the Gratnells Stand (H10) during the three days of the Education Show in Birmingham next week. Sebastian Hunt, a corporate magician, is a member of both the prestigious Magic Circle in London and Equity. His act – which is guaranteed to draw a large crowd – will be ably supported by his beautiful assistant – the Gratstack®!
I’m sure I’ll be meeting many of you at the Show where we will be showcasing both our secondary science storage range and our junior range. Be sure and drop by Stand H10 to say hello and catch some magic. If you want to meet up at the show or would like any more information about the Magician or GratStack just drop me an email.
Our next show will be the Education Show in a few weeks time. We’ll be on stand H10 so be sure and drop by and say hello. This is always an important show in our calendar to showcase both our primary and secondary science range – and a good chance for me to catch up with some of our UK customers.
We have some exciting things planned for our stand – and we are continuing to hold seminars as part of our Learning Rooms project. This year we have arranged for Kevin Bullock, Headmaster of Fordham Primary School, to speak about pupil engagement.
The Education Show runs from 14 to 16 March at the NEC in Birmingham. Further details on Kevin’s presentation are in our press release below.

Santa and his elves are busy getting ready for Christmas. And of course with all the toys they have to make they need plenty of storage, and what’s better than Gratnells? So that’s the theme for this year’s Gratnells Chrismas card.
Wishing you all the best for Christmas and a happy and prosperous 2013!
Some of our customers may not be aware that we now make a mini runner. This new plastic runner – the P3 – is a shorter version of our best-selling G3 which is commonly found in wooden furniture.
The P3 has been designed for shallower furniture units and is ideal for holding both Gratnells new Cubby Tray (the J1) and also our NS1 and NS2 trays. If you would like a sample please just drop me an email.
Despite an awful start to our trip, Worlddidac gets a big thumbs up this year. Team Gratnells had all booked to fly out from London City Airport on the Monday – but our flights were all cancelled due to fog at all the airports, as were the next flights, and the ones after that….. Eventually we managed to all make it in time for the show opening – some by train, some by flight the next day.
This year the focus of our stand was to demonstrate the entire Gratnells secondary school science storage range. Along with Neville Hudson, Founder of Gratnells, Spencer Randon, Director of International Business and Robert Marmoy, our Export Manager, I was delighted to see many of our customers at the show this year, and delighted to see so many other stands with Gratnells products on display too.
This year we’re putting put a special emphasis on school science storage. Which means that if you’re not familiar with our full Secondary School range, you’ll have the chance to see just how extensive the Gratnells range of science storage products really is.
We’ll show how science furniture can provide a more efficient method of storage by incorporating our Worlddidac award-winning trays and accessories. Also for science kit makers, you can see how our four different heights of tray, plus customised inserts and clip-on lids (with your brand or product details printed on them) not only keeps kit items neatly arranged and secure, but really makes any brand stand out from the crowd.
Joining me at Worlddidac will be Neville Hudson, Founder of Gratnells, Spencer Randon, Director of International Business and Robert Marmoy, our Export Manager. I’m sure you’ve already made your own Worlddidac arrangements, but if you do need a voucher code for a free ticket just email me.
So join us in Hall 5.0 on Stand B20 and see for yourself why Gratnells leads the way in school science storage.
Worlddidac is the leading global trade fair for educational resources. It is held every two years in Basel, Switzerland. This year’s exhibition runs from 24th to 26th October and features 400 exhibitors from over 30 countries.
We are delighted that our Quadrant trays and stand recently won a Silver Award in the Creative Play category at the Practical Preschool Awards 2012.
‘Fantastic, wonderful, brilliant’ is how the testers described the set of four trays and stands from our partner Reflections on Learning, ‘We thought of lots of uses for this product and how it could facilitate learning in all areas of education. The children use this on a daily basis. The drawers can facilitate large items; it is not just a sand and water tray, it is a communal hot spot!’
Here’s a nice informative video!
The Practical Pre-School Awards identify and reward the most brilliant, innovative and expertly designed educational equipment, childcare, books and toys suitable for children aged from 0 – 8 in professional childcare and educational settings. You can see the rest of the awards line up here
We are delighted to welcome another new educational tray into the Gratnells tray family. The brand new Cubby Tray (the J2) is a mini version of our F2 Deep Tray.
It’s ideal for both classroom and cloakroom use and will be particularly suitable for Early Years environments. Children can have their own personal storage tray for outdoor shoes or other items. And the Cubby tray can be easily cleaned and moved around, even by younger children.
The Cubby tray can be fitted into wooden furniture either on shelves, or with our new P3 plastic runner (which is a shorter version of our standard P5 runner which is widely used by wooden furniture manufacturers. It’s currently available in five colours – flame red, grass green, sunshine yellow, royal blue and translucent.
