Gratnells at Worlddidac

Despite an awful start to our trip, Worlddidac gets a big thumbs up this year.  Team Gratnells had all booked to fly out from London City Airport on the Monday – but our flights were all cancelled due to fog at all the airports, as were the next flights, and the ones after that…..  Eventually we managed to all make it in time for the show opening – some by train, some by flight the next day.

This year the focus of our stand was to demonstrate the entire Gratnells secondary school science storage range.  Along with Neville Hudson, Founder of Gratnells, Spencer Randon, Director of International Business and Robert Marmoy, our Export Manager, I was delighted to see many of our customers at the show this year, and delighted to see so many other stands with Gratnells products on display too.

It’s Worlddidac time again!

Well it’s that time of year again and we’re gearing up for the Worlddidac exhibition in Basel next week.

This year we’re putting put a special emphasis on school science storage. Which means that if you’re not familiar with our full Secondary School range, you’ll have the chance to see just how extensive the Gratnells range of science storage products really is.

We’ll show how science furniture can provide a more efficient method of storage by incorporating our Worlddidac award-winning trays and accessories. Also for science kit makers, you can see how our four different heights of tray, plus customised inserts and clip-on lids (with your brand or product details printed on them) not only keeps kit items neatly arranged and secure, but really makes any brand stand out from the crowd.

Joining me at Worlddidac will be Neville Hudson, Founder of Gratnells, Spencer Randon, Director of International Business and Robert Marmoy, our Export Manager. I’m sure you’ve already made your own Worlddidac arrangements, but if you do need a voucher code for a free ticket just email me.

So join us in Hall 5.0 on Stand B20 and see for yourself why Gratnells leads the way in school science storage.

Silver PreSchool Award for Quadrant tray and Stand Set

We are delighted that our Quadrant trays and stand recently won a Silver Award in the Creative Play category at the Practical Preschool Awards 2012.

‘Fantastic, wonderful, brilliant’ is how the testers described the set of four trays and stands from our partner Reflections on Learning, ‘We thought of lots of uses for this product and how it could facilitate learning in all areas of education. The children use this on a daily basis. The drawers can facilitate large items; it is not just a sand and water tray, it is a communal hot spot!’

Here’s a nice informative video!

The Practical Pre-School Awards identify and reward the most brilliant, innovative and expertly designed educational equipment, childcare, books and toys suitable for children aged from 0 – 8 in professional childcare and educational settings.  You can see the rest of the awards line up here

Small is beautiful – the new Gratnells Cubby Tray

We are delighted to welcome another new educational tray into the Gratnells tray family.  The brand new Cubby Tray (the J2) is a mini version of our F2 Deep Tray.

It’s ideal for both classroom and cloakroom use and will be particularly suitable for Early Years environments. Children can have their own personal storage tray for outdoor shoes or other items. And the Cubby tray can be easily cleaned and moved around, even by younger children.

The Cubby tray can be fitted into wooden furniture either on shelves, or with our new P3 plastic runner (which is a shorter version of our standard P5 runner which is widely used by wooden furniture manufacturers.  It’s currently available in five colours – flame red, grass green, sunshine yellow, royal blue and translucent.

You can download a Cubby Tray_Product Sheet or if you would like a sample just email me.

Sticky Stuff

Our new tray labels are now up and running.  We have produced free sample sheets with Avery which are sent out with all factory orders – and teachers can then buy packs of 8×8 sheets either from us or from any stationery supplier.

The labels are produced by market leader Avery Dennison and have been designed to fit our school trays (with the added bonus they also fit A4 folders).  They feature a new ‘smart’ adhesive so when teachers remove them at the end of the school year they don’t leave any sticky residue on the tray.

We have also partnered with Avery and Twinkl to create free online templates for these labels where teachers can customise, download and print sheets of labels for their classrooms.  There is also a MicroSoft office template available for download on our website.  If you’d like a sample sheet just drop me an email.

Avery good idea

We are excited to have teamed up with leading label manufacturer Avery and classroom resource website Twinkl to supply brand new tray labets to fit Gratnells trays.  From April all Gratnells orders will come with a customised sheet of Avery tray labels.  Teachers can then go online and download and print free label template designs from twinkl.  This will make it really easy for teachers to have attractively labelled trays.  And the stickers have ‘smart’ glue which peels off when needed with no sticky residue.

Education show talk brings a tear to the eye

Last week we were kept busy at the Education Show in Brimingham.  Gratnells had our stand there as usual mainly showcasing our Junior storage range, and we also had Gratnells Educational Consultant and Learning Rooms partner, Roger Cole, giving a talk on ‘Teaching and Learning for the Next Decade’.  Roger is an inspiring speaker and is passionate about how we should educate children.  His talk had an enthusisatic reception and even reduced one young teacher to tears as she was so moved.

You can see a copy of the slideshow from Roger’s presentation here.

Education Show 2012

This week we’re at The Education Show in the NEC in Birmingham.  If you’re going to be there, be sure and drop by and say hello.  We’re on stand H10 which is just to your right at the main entrance.  We’re also hosting a talk with Roger Cole at 2pm on Thursday.  You can find full details of the talk here and the show here.

Everything there is to know

After much blood, sweat and tears we have completed our Gratnells International Brochure.  It was primarily designed for our overseas customers, but it’s just as relevant for our UK partners too.  It clearly demonstrates our complete product range and potential applications for third parties, and has a full colour chart and lots of technical information too. There’s even a glossy pull-out poster for that space above your desk that needs brightening up!

If you’re interested in having a look at what we do you can download a pdf, or see a flicky version online.  I’ll even post you a copy if you email me your details.
